49-year-old Gregory Allen Justis worked as an engineer at an unnamed enterprise, which executed the Pentagon orders. He tried to sell software and other secret information related to the development of military and commercial satellites.

Since the beginning of the year, Justis met several times with an FBI agent who worked undercover, and during each meeting he received from him from 500 to $ 1,000 for transferred documents. The engineer explained to the Russian Spy that he needs money to treat a sick wife. However, according to law enforcement agencies, he spent part of the funds received on another woman.

By the aggregate of accusations, Justis is facing up to 35 years in prison.

In 2014, the Federal Court in the city of Norfolk sentenced a retired American soldier to 30 years in prison for an attempt to transfer secret information to the FBI to representatives of Russian special services. A resident of Virginia Robert Patrick Hoffman has been in military service for more than 20 years and had access to secret information. According to the investigation, on October 21, he tried to transmit documents containing classified information about the US national security, people whom he considered representatives of Russian special services. In fact, they turned out to be agents of the FBI who worked undercover.

At the same time, the prosecutor’s office noted that Russia did not perform any actions aimed at receiving these documents, and the FBI agent used imaginary belonging to Russia only as a legend to work with the suspect.
