The British government rejected the demand of the second referendum on the country's membership in the European Union. This is stated in the response of the British Foreign Ministry to a petition about a new vote, reports The Independent.

The petition was signed by more than 4.1 million people. It has become the most popular petition addressed to the government since 2011, when citizens were given the opportunity to appeal to the country's authorities.

The British Foreign Ministry recalled that all the conditions for holding a referendum were approved by parliament, they were previously considered by the government and the queen. The ministry said that no new requirements have grounds under them. The country's authorities will continue to prepare all the documents necessary for leaving the European Union.

The petition of a second referendum will still be entered into the British parliament. According to the law, all appeals that have gained more than 100 thousand signatures are made to the parliament. However, deputies have the opportunity not to put petitions for consideration.

On June 23, at a referendum , 51.9 percent of subjects spoke out from the EU, 48.1 percent, respectively. At the same time, out of the four components of the United Kingdom, Brexit supporters received the majority only in England and Wales, while Scotland and Northern Ireland advocated the continuation of membership in the European Union. So, in Scotland, Brexit opponents gained 62 percent of the vote, supporters - 38 percent.

A month before the referendum, the petition of a turning vote was published by just Brexit supporters, not confident at that time that their position in a referendum would win. However, the majority of the signatories of the document are precisely supporters of membership in Britain in the European Union. An active collection of signatures began only after the referendum .
