A Chelyabinsk resident accused of calling for separatism was left in a mental hospital for another six months

A resident of Chelyabinsk, against whom a case of separatism was opened in the summer of 2015 in connection with publications on the social network VKontakte about the need to create the Ural People's Republic, had his period of forced hospitalization extended by six months. This decision was made by the Sovetsky District Court of Chelyabinsk on July 12. His mother Tatyana Moroshkina spoke about this.

Alexey Moroshkin OVD-InfoDespite the fact that Moroshkin was not registered with a psychiatrist before the case was opened, forensic experts during the investigation into the case of calls for separatism diagnosed him with “paranoid schizophrenia” with the wording “delusions of religious reformism.” The reason for this was Moroshkin’s online publications and interviews dedicated to the virtual Church of the Chelyabinsk Meteorite he invented.

Apparently, in November 2015, Moroshkin was released from criminal liability and in December was sent for compulsory treatment to the Regional Clinical Specialized Psychoneurological Hospital No. 1 in the city of Chelyabinsk.

When Moroshkin first ended up in the hospital, his mother was promised that after six months he would be able to leave the hospital, and then the diagnosis would probably be removed. However, she was later told that, according to established practice, after six months there would definitely be an extension of the period.

According to his mother, Alexey Moroshkin’s condition has recently worsened as he began to be injected with drugs.

Currently, another case brought against Moroshkin is being investigated - the case of painting a bust of Lenin in Chelyabinsk in the colors of the Ukrainian flag (instituted under the article “Vandalism” - Part 2 of Article 214 of the Criminal Code). Tatyana Moroshkina said that the investigation had already been transferred to the prosecutor's office, but from there it was sent back, and at the moment the investigation is ongoing. Moroshkina claims that there is no factual evidence of her son’s guilt in the case, and that what is in the case was obtained with violations. In particular, among the material evidence there are Alexei Moroshkin’s jeans, but not those that were examined after the case was opened, but others that were confiscated from him later.
