In St. Petersburg on July 12, two LGBT activists were detained for holding one-man pickets in defense of freedom of assembly. It is reported by "Lenta.ru".
“At about 13:00 on the Field of Mars, two citizens were detained for violating public order. They were taken to the police station to be brought to administrative responsibility, ”the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region said.
The police clarified that the activists violated the law on holding mass events. In the Instagram of the LGBT group Vykhod (the detainees are its members) it is noted that the activists carried out the #Time to Speak action against the systematic violations of the right to freedom of assembly by the city authorities.
