Russian aircraft raided the refugee camp, located in the south of Syria, in the deserted area directly near the Jordanian border. This was reported by Reuters with reference to sources in the moderate Syrian opposition and in Jordan.

The blow was inflicted on Tuesday around noon. At least 12 people died; injured at least 40, mainly women and children.

One of the sources of the agency said that among the dead and victims there are also combatants from the ASUD ASH-Sharkia group, which is part of the Free Syrian Army supported by the West and is at war with the Islamic State. In the camp, the interlocutor of Reuters explained, mainly the families of members of the ASUD ASh-Sharkia live.

After the raid, the Jordanian troops, concentrated on the other side of the border, helped to deliver the wounded to the hospitals of their country.

A kind of high -ranking Western diplomat confirmed the fact of a raid and noted that, according to preliminary data, Russia really committed it.

If these data turn out to be correct, Reuters notes, then the incident on Tuesday will be the first case of the Kremlin’s hostilities on the Jordanian border for all nine and a half months that have passed since Moscow open intervention in the war in Syria.

Jordan, an ally of the United States, previously made contact with Russia to protect the forces of a moderate opposition in southern Syria from Moscow raids. As the agency explains, Amman is interested in these forces to maintain control of the border territories, avoiding the Jihadists from IG and Jabhat al-Nusra.

In the previously uninhabited strip near the borders of Syria, Jordan and Iraq, there are two large camps of refugees from the central and eastern Syrian regions. At least 60 thousand people live in these camps.

In June, the Jordanian authorities closed refugee access to their country, after the terrorist who arrived from the Syrian side, allegedly a supporter of IG, attacked a military base, killing seven border guards. After that, food problems began in the camps.

The base of moderate rebels in the south of Syria is located in the city of ET-Tanf to the northeast of the refugee camps. She was twice subjected to Russian raids, and the second raid occurred after the United States called on Russia not to bomb Et-Tanf.
