Bernie Sanders, the last formal rival of Hillary Clinton to fight for the nomination of the US president from the Democratic Party, announced that he supported Clinton’s candidacy as a party candidate, and thereby laid the end of the two-year-old anti-sophisticated struggle of two democrats. However, not all supporters of Sanders are ready to rally behind Hillary Clinton.

He proclaimed himself the leader of the political revolution, which, according to him, should elevate the majority voice over the votes of a privileged successful minority, to provide the future in which every American will have access to cheap medicine, a free higher education that allows you to live to work. The candidate, who, like Donald Trump, was initially written off as political curiosity, proved that for such views in the country there is an enthusiastic consumer, that this mainly youth electorate is ready to sacrifice money to support his candidate and follow him to the end. As Sanders proclaimed on Tuesday, 13 million people voted for him in the primary elections.

Almost until the last minute it was unclear whether Sanders would decide to use the party congress at which the presidential candidate from the Democratic Party will be officially confirmed in order to give the final battle of Hillary Clinton, which he christened the candidate of the establishment. According to one version after loss of the Democrats, he could join, for example, to the Green Party, offering him to call him a presidential candidate, and take away a significant part of the electorate of the Democratic Party.

On Tuesday, during a joint appearance with Hillary Clinton at a multi-thousandth rally in Portsmouth (New Hampshire), Bernie Sanders said a phrase that Clinton's supporters expected him for a very long time: "Clinton won the nomination from the democratic party, and I congratulate it." Sanders promised to do everything necessary in order to contribute to the election of Clinton by the president.

Clinton’s answer was more emotional: “I can’t say how much more pleasant the elections will be when we are all together. You know, because we are stronger when we are together!” Many observers, however, noted that both politicians looked suspended and experienced a clear inconvenience, being next to each other. At the end of the ceremony, Sanders held out Clinton's hand to exchange handshake. Clinton in response reached for him with a hug.

The observer of The New York Times, Andrew Rosentol, writes : "This event could not look unnecessary: in the end, Sanders spent most of the year, accusing Clinton of corruption, of the hawk approach to international affairs, that it is too close to Wall Street." During her speech, Clinton publicly gave a generous tribute to her rival Sanders, who forced her to significantly move to the positions of the so -called progressist wing of the Democratic Party. She talked about the support of a sharp increase in the minimum wage throughout the country, about the abandonment of the agreement on the Pacific partnership, in whose favor it spoke for so long, about the greater accessibility of higher education. She directly turned to the voters of Sanders, thanking them for the fact that they supported him.

“But Bernie Sanders went much further.” He calls himself a "democratic socialist." Can we conclude from this that the Americans are more located now and to socialist ideas?

- They do not turn to socialist ideas. Sanders’s popularity can be explained by a variety of reasons, but his economic ideas are far from the main thing that attracts to his candidacy. By and large, Sanders embodies precisely this movement to the left of the Democratic Party in regard to social issues: approval of same -sex marriages, supporting women's right to abortion. However, the greatest attractiveness of his candidacy was that he sharply contrasted himself with a political establishment, exposing himself to a man from the outside. And this is exactly what the Democrats wanted to see in their candidate for president.

In this sense, the country is split. In a personal confrontation with Trump, Clinton is now ahead of him by several points. But I do not know if she will preserve this leadership, ”says the employee of the Institute of American Enterprise Karlin Bowman .
