1896 Trygve Lie is born

120 years ago, on July 16, 1896, Trygve Lie was born, the first Secretary General of the United Nations (he held this position in 1946-1953) and one of the leaders of the Workers' Party of Norway. At one time, he supported the Bolshevik revolution in Russia and met with Lenin, and after Trotsky was expelled from the USSR, he advocated granting him political asylum in Norway. During the Second World War, Trygve Lie was Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Norwegian government of Norway.
