US Air Force base in Turkey blocked

Access to the Incirlik air base in southern Turkey, which is shared between the Turkish and US air forces, has been blocked. Electricity was cut off at the base, the Turkish newspaper Daily Sabah reports, citing sources.

American planes are stationed at the Incirlik base, participating in the operation against the "Islamic State" (in the Russian Federation, the organization is recognized as a terrorist organization and banned).

Earlier, Pentagon officials said that the coup attempt in Turkey did not affect the security of the Incirlik base.

• In Turkey, on the night of July 16, an attempt was made to carry out a military coup. The rebellion, the Turkish authorities said, was attempted by Air Force and military police officers.
• More than 160 people were killed in the coup attempt. About 3,000 people were arrested on suspicion of participation in the rebellion.
