
Specialized units held a number of measures in connection with the seizure of the Patrol and Posts Service (PPS) building of Armenia in the Yerevan district of Erebuni, as a result, two hostages were released, Interfax reports with reference to the Armenian national security service.
The agency also confirms the death of one policeman and the wound of two law enforcement officers, which were previously reported.
The SNB states that the law enforcement agencies of Armenia "fully control the situation and take the necessary measures for the denouement."
Meanwhile, the Armenian police told TASS that about 30 supporters of the radical opposition took part in the capture of the PPS building. At about 5 o’clock in the morning local time, with the help of the KrAZ truck, they rammed the gates of the PPS regiment and penetrated the territory of the unit, after that a shootout ensued.
The attackers took the eight police officers hostage , including the deputy chief of the Armenian police, Major General of the police, Vartan Egiazaryan and the Deputy Head of the police department for Yerevan, Colonel Valery Osipyan.
