The Commissioner for the expansion of the European Union Johannes Khan expressed a concern that the lists of Turkish military and law enforcement officers to be detained in the case of an attempt by a putsch, the country's authorities prepared before the coup. “It looks at least like something pre -prepared,” the European Commissioner said. “The lists have already been published, and this indicates that they have been prepared ahead of time to put into business at the right time.”

“I am very preoccupied. This is exactly what we were afraid of,” Khan concluded.

Meanwhile, Hürriyet Daily News reports that on Monday night, 7899 police officers, including high-ranking, were removed from the work of the country due to suspicions of involvement in the coup. The security forces were called to regional administrations and seized their weapons and service certificates from them. The detentions of the dismissed police officers are not reported.

In total , about 6 thousand people were detained on suspicion of involvement in the putty. Half of them are military, and the rest are judges and prosecutors. A number of detainees, including senior officers, have already been arrested.

At the same time, the Minister of Justice of Turkey, Bekir Bozdates, warned that new detentions were expected.

On Saturday, Cumhuriyet reported with reference to a source in intelligence that the attempt of the coupwas made after leakage from the special services about the prepaid new stripping of the army and mass arrests of senior officers and officials suspected of ties with the preacher Fethullah Gulen who live in exile in the US emigration. It was claimed that the operation against the alleged supporters of Gulen was supposed to begin at 4 a.m. on July 16. Thus, according to this publication, the rebellion was only an attempt by the military to prevent cleaning.

When suppressing the coup, 104 of its participants were killed. More than 190 opponents of the putsch were also killed, and over 1,400 were injured.
