Wada accused Russia of supporting doping at the state level

The World Anti-Doping Agency (Vada) has found confirmation of the facts of using doping by Russian athletes at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, said the head of the VADA commission to investigate possible fraud with doping tests, Richard Maklaren at a press conference in Toronto.

As follows from the VADA report on the VADA website, the commission found confirmation of the words of the former head of the Moscow anti -doping laboratory Grigory Rodchenkov, who told The New York Times (NYT), which at least 15 Russian athletes who won the medal in Sochi used doping.

According to Rodchenkov, he personally prepared a “doping-coat” for athletes, the list of which was sent to him from the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation. The whole process, Rodchenkov claimed, controlled the Russian special services.

According to WADA, the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory, the Laboratory in Sochi, as well as the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, acted as part of the doping test results controlled by the state.

In particular, we are talking about substituting samples, which allowed Russian athletes to perform at the Olympiads. Vada also indicated the participation of the FSB in this process. In addition, the commission confirmed the words of Rodchenkov about the role in the “state-sponsored doping program” of Deputy Minister of Sports Yuri Nagorny, whom Rodchenkov called the curator of this program.

As the agency found out, samples of pure urine ordered samples, then doping tests were transported to a “secret place”, which was known to the deputy minister of sports and the FSB.

Wada did not give recommendations regarding the admission of the Russian team for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. As McLaren said at a press conference, he will not give any recommendations based on the results of the agency investigation. McLaren clarified that he considered the option to make recommendations, but in the process of investigation I decided not to do this.

At the same time, McLaren called on the International Olympic Committee and other instances to act on the basis of the facts provided by WAD as they consider necessary. The agency did not confirm the participation of the Russian Olympic Committee in the substitution of doping industry. The Russian Olympians were pre -removed from participation in the Games after an interview with Rodchenkov.

In mid-June, Wada published a report where it reported the mass evasion of athletes from Russia from doping industry. The Council of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) on June 17 decided to extend the disqualification of the All -Russian Athletics Federation (VFLA), which means the lack of Russian athletes for the Rio Olympics.

The IAAF Council allowed the participation in the 2016 Olympics of those Russian athletes that will prove their non-involvement in doping scandals. Julia Stepanova, Daria Klavina and swimmer Julia Efimova received the right to speak in Rio.

The Olympic Committee of Russia and 68 Russian athletes in connection with the IAAF decision in July appealed to the Sports Arbitration Court in Lausanne, which should declare its decision no later than July 21. The application of the Russian team for participation in the Olympics should be issued no later than July 22. The decision on the admission of the Russian Federation to the games will be made by the IOC.

The possible removal of Russians from the Olympics in Rio became known in the fall of 2015. In November, Vada convicted Rusada in the destruction of the results of doping tests, to which Rodchenkov was involved. The Moscow Anti -Doping Laboratory was closed , the head of the Russad resigned .
