LGBT activist complained about the ECHR of an ineffective investigation of the attack on the office

On July 7, Murmansk human rights activist Violetta Grudin appealed to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) with a complaint about an ineffective investigation of the attack on the LGBT Center in Murmansk in April 2015. The application has not yet been accepted for consideration. This was reported by the online publication "7 × 7" with reference to Violetta Grudin.

In his complaint, the sternum indicates that the authorities did not conduct an effective and timely investigation of a homophobic attack on the community center. The activist hopes that after the consideration of the case in the ECHR, the police will still have to open a criminal case on the fact of the attack "due to newly discovered circumstances."

On April 13, 2015, two unknown people attacked the office of the organization Center for Social and Psychological Assistance and Legal Support for Victims of Discrimination and Maximum Gomophobia in Murmansk. They sprayed a suffocating gas in the room, as a result of which two people were injured. Law enforcement agencies did not find the guilty and refused activists to initiate a criminal case, not finding a crime in it. Russian courts refused to satisfy the complaints of human rights defenders of refusing to initiate proceedings.

In November 2015, employees of the Center tried to challenge the refusal to initiate a criminal case in court, but to no avail. Neither the city nor the regional court satisfied the complaints of human rights activists. Violetta Grudina believes that the authorities ignored the significant evidence that the attack occurred on the basis of homophobic hatred.
