A Russian soldier died in Syria

A Russian contract serviceman died in Syria. This was reported in the Ministry of Defense.

In the province of Aleppo, the car in which the Russian Nikita Shevchenko was located was blown up by a bomb. As indicated by the Ministry of Defense, the doctors tried to save Shevchenko at the scene, but failed to do so.

• In Syria, during the time that Russia is participating in the operation, 14 soldiers have already died (including the soldier who was reported on July 22). On July 9, two Russian military instructor pilots died there after their helicopter was shot down. Russia did not acknowledge that the helicopter was Russian.
• Russia has been participating in the operation in Syria since September 30, 2015. Russian planes are attacking militant positions pointed to by the Syrian military. The international community has repeatedly pointed out that the strikes were carried out not only against terrorists, but also against opponents of Bashar al-Assad who had no relation to the Islamists.
