The Turkish prosecutor’s office issued a warrant for the detention of 42 journalists in connection with a coup attempt in the country. This was reported by the local NTV television channel.

Operations are carried out on the search and detention of journalists suspected of relations with the opposition Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen. Ankara accuses him of organizing an attempt of a military coup in Turkey.

Among others, an arrest warrant was issued to the famous television viewer Nazly Ylydzhak. She was the comrade -in -arms of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who turned into an opposition after accelerating the protest on Taxim Square in Istanbul in 2013.

On July 20, Erdogan introduced a state of emergency in the country for a period of three months. The next day, the Great National Assembly - the Turkish parliament - approved this decision in 346 votes against 115.

On Sunday, the Turkish president extended from four to 30 days a period for which suspects in a failed attempt by a military coup can be detained without charges . According to Erdogan, this measure was accepted to conduct a full investigation.

Erdogan also ordered the closure of 1043 private schools, 1229 charitable organizations and various institutions suspected of relations with Gulen living in the United States.

On the evening of July 23, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yyldyrym on the air of the NTV television channel said that the number of detainees after the coup attempt is 13 thousand people. "The number of detainees after the military coup at the moment is 13002 people: these are 1329 police officers, 8831 soldiers, 2100 judges, 689 prosecutors," the prime minister said.

At the moment, within the framework of the mass purges of the state apparatus in Turkey, about 45 thousand civil servants of various structures have been removed from work.

At the same time, on July 23, the Turkish authorities freed 1,200 ordinary people , previously detained in the case of an attempt by a military coup. According to the chief prosecutor of Ankara Harun Kodalak, investigators are trying to find out which of the soldiers during the coup opened fire on citizens and who is not. Earlier it was noted that among the detained participants of the coup, many were conscripts who did not realize in the situation.

When suppressing the coup in Turkey, 104 of its participants were killed. More than 190 opponents of the putsch were also killed, and over 1,400 were injured.
