In Primorye on the highway, the unknown shot down a red -hot leopard and disappeared

Employees of the Land of the Leopard National Park in the Primorsky Territory are looking for a wounded leopard, whom an unknown driver shot down on the highway, the issue of declaring a car on the wanted list is also being decided. This was announced on Monday by TASS a representative of the National Park.

"The leopard shot down on Sunday afternoon near the village of Kravtsovka an unknown driver, after which the car disappeared. The leopard lay motionless for some time on the road, then stood up and disappeared in the forest," the agency’s interlocutor said. According to him, the Park’s employees were reported to “caring eyewitnesses”, however, by their photos it is impossible to determine which leopard was shot down, as well as injuries.

Employees of the National Park began to search for a predator, but with the onset of darkness they had to stop. On Monday, July 25, they will resume.

"Yesterday, traces of a predator were found, traces of his blood in the forest, but it was not possible to find the leopard himself, today the search will continue. We also solve the issue of announcing the car on the wanted list together with law enforcement agencies. Thanks to eyewitnesses, we have its license plate," the source said.

According to VL.ru , according to an eyewitness of Roman, the leopard jumped out onto the road the day before at about 13:30 local time on the 36th kilometer of the Razdolny - Hassan, near the village of Kravtsovka. At that moment, several cars were moving along the road. One of the drivers did not have time to react and slow down, as a result of which the animal hit. The predator from the blow was thrown to the side of the road, the animal was injured.

Another eyewitness to an accident named Maxim told RIA PrimaMedia that the beast appeared on the road so suddenly that it was not possible to react to him.

“He jumped out of the bushes. The girls in a small jeep rode ahead, they flew into it. The people stopped on the road, went out. Apparently many called the Ministry of Emergencies. When I had not left, the leopard was breathing heavily, blood was going on from his mouth,” said the witness of the incident. He added that he was later very surprised when he found out that the leopard himself ran into the forest.

The track on which the Leopard was shot down passes through the park, actually dividing it into two halves. Drivers in this area are asked to be attentive and observe the speed limit so as not to destroy rare predators, which sometimes go on the road.

“The number of leopards is growing, the track passes through the animal’s habitat, so this could happen. The tunnel for leopards helps minimizes such incidents, but does not completely exclude them. Plus, now there is a large flow of cars. It is very bad, of course, that the driver was hidden to the scene,” the Park employee, in turn, informed RIA Novosti .

Recall that in October 2015, Leopard Meamur was shot down on the highway near the village of Kravtsovka. From the injuries, the predator died on the spot.

The Far Eastern leopard is entered in the International Red Book. Currently, up to 80 individuals of this species live in the wild. Especially for their protection in Primorye, the Land of the Leopard National Park with an area of ​​262 thousand hectares was created.
