The prosecutor's office named one of the killers of a priest in France

One of the Islamists who killed a Catholic priest in a church in Normandy on July 26 was Adele Kermish. This was stated by the prosecutor Francois Molin.

This was previously reported by the Associated Press, citing a police source and an acquaintance of the Kermish family.

The second attacker has not yet been identified, Moulin said.

The prosecutor said that one of the attackers was wearing a dummy "suicide belt", and the other had a backpack with a dummy bomb inside, as well as a kitchen clock wrapped in foil.

Molin confirmed that one person, a 17-year-old native of Algeria, was detained in connection with the incident. According to Moulin, this is the younger brother of a man who went to Syria in 2015 with documents in the name of Kermish.

Adel Kermish himself, who was 19 years old at the time of the attack, tried to leave for Syria twice - first with his brother's documents, then with his cousin's documents, but was detained both times. After his imprisonment, he was released under house arrest.

• On the morning of July 25, two men with bladed weapons seized a church in the commune of Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvre in northern France. Six people were taken hostage. One of the hostages, a nun, managed to escape and call for help. An 85-year-old priest was killed and three others were injured.
• The attackers were shot dead when they went out into the street shouting "Allah Akbar". Responsibility for the attack was claimed by the Islamic State (the organization was recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in Russia).
