Rallies against the “Yarovaya package” were held in Russian cities

On July 26, rallies were held in a number of large Russian cities against the so-called "anti-terrorist package" of laws prepared by State Duma deputy Irina Yarovaya and senator Viktor Ozerov.

Actions coordinated with local authorities took place, in particular, in Novosibirsk , Yekaterinburg , Ufa , Kurgan and Kazan .

In St. Petersburg, where the authorities refused to approve the rally, a "people's gathering" was organized. According to Fontanka , an activist was detained at the gathering, who was selling a plastic bag for 10 rubles with the inscription “Yarovaya package”.

On July 25, a rally, one of the topics of which was the “Yarovaya package”, was held in Volgograd, writes V1.ru.

• The Yarovaya Package was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin on July 7. The laws included in the package, in particular, oblige telecom operators and Internet providers to store user data for six months, introduce punishment for non-information in the Criminal Code and restrict missionary activity. Various professional and public organizations opposed the provisions of these laws at all stages of their consideration and adoption.
• An action against the Yarovaya package, declared as a rally in defense of Articles 23 and 24 of the Constitution, against Internet censorship and Internet surveillance, was also planned in Moscow, but the organizers announced it was postponed to August 9 . Earlier, the Moscow mayor's office refused to approve the event.
