
Russia is taking adequate response measures in connection with the election of NATO’s military presence and the situation in Ukraine. This was stated by Minister of Defense Sergey Shoigu at a meeting of the board of the military department, Interfax reports .
“In recent years, the military -political situation in the southwestern strategic direction has become aggravated. This is mainly due to the increase in NATO’s military presence in Eastern Europe, the situation in Ukraine and the activities of international terrorist groups, including the North Caucasus,” said Shoigu. “In these conditions, we are forced to take adequate response measures.”

Shoigu also noted that the "self -sufficient group" of troops was deployed in the Crimea.
