Four Russian weightlifters performing at the Olympics in London are convicted of doping. This was reported on the website of the International Athletics Federation (IWF).

A positive result was given to the test of Natalia Zabolotnaya, Svetlana Tsarukaeva, Andrei Demanov and Alexander Ivanov, reports IWF. Forbidden drugs were discovered during the second wave of processing samples of participants in the 2008 and 2012 Olympiads. Two of the Russians convicted in doping won silver medals at the 2012 Games - Zabolotnaya in the category of up to 75 kg, and Ivanov in the category up to 94 kg.

Information about the new positive doping tests jeopardizes the performance of the Russian team in heavy athletics at the Rio Olympics. At the last meeting of the IWF executive committee, a rule was adopted by which the National Federation is disqualified for a year if three or more representatives are caught on doping during this rechecking.

On June 25, it became known that the doping industry "in" Silver medalist of the 2012 Olympic Games in London of the Russian weightlift man Apti Auhadov gave a positive result . Previously, doping tests "in" Russian weightlifters of Marina Shainova and Nadezhda Evstyukhina , taken at 2008 games, turned out to be positive.

On June 22, the IWF Executive Council has already deprived Russia of one male and one female quota for participation in the 2016 games. The decision was made due to several positive doping sections during the qualification to the games. Earlier, the Russian team had a maximum quota - 10 people, six men and four women. IWF also deprived the two Olympic quotas of the team of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, the DPRK and Moldova. One quota was recalled by the national teams of Belarus, Romania and Uzbekistan.
