Twel JSC (Rosatom’s fuel division) signed the first contract for the experimental operation of Russian fuel “TVS-square” with one of the operators of the US nuclear power plant.
Dmitry Kumanovsky , head of the analytical department of CJSC Investment Company LMS:
Rosatom, developing his status of the global atomic corporation, in accordance with the best Western commercial practices made access to the North American fuel market for nuclear power plants. Without any political support, the Russian company entered into a commercial agreement with the American company for the experimental and industrial operation of the Russian nuclear fuel “TVS-square” compatible with the Western-sample nuclear reactors.
In fact, since previously Russian fuel has already been tested in Europe, an American partner represented by GE-Hitachi wants to conduct an independent confirmation of the declared characteristics on his own reactors and the forces of his own specialists. When the tests are successful, GE-Hitachi will receive an alternative fuel supplier to its own nuclear power plants. Ground competition will allow in the North American fuel market for nuclear power plants to increase the attractiveness of supplies and service from the manufacturer of assemblies. It is possible that traditionally more flexible dew that controls the entire chain of the cost of fuel will be able to occupy a significant share in this market.
