The new head of the FCS was appointed

Vladimir Bulavin was appointed the new head of the Federal Customs Service (FCS). This is stated in the appropriate disposal of the Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev, published on July 28 on the government website.

At the indicated post, Bulavin was replaced by Andrei Belleninov, who headed the FCS since 2006. Belyaninov was dismissed on July 28 of his own free will.

On the eve of the head of the legal department of the FCS, Larisa Cherkesova said that Belyaninov did not submit a resignation statement, because this "can never be." The department indicated that Belyaninov was on a planned vacation.

On July 26, the sources of the Rain television channel said that Belyaninov wrote a statement about leaving his post six months ago, and since then the head of the FCS has been looking for a “new worthy place”. The FCS itself and the Kremlin reported that they did not have information about the resignation of Belyaninov.

On the morning of July 26, searches were carried out in the office and Belleninov’s house, during which significant amounts were discovered in rubles and currency, jewelry, a collection of paintings and watches. The RF IC said that searches are related to the case of alcohol smuggling against businessman Dmitry Mikhalchenko. Later, the Kremlin confirmed that Belyaninov is a witness in the case of alcohol smuggling and is not accused of anything.

Bulavin earlier on July 28 was dismissed from the post of envoy in the North-Western Federal District. He worked in this position since March 2013, and before that he was the first deputy secretary of the Council of People's Commissars of the Russian Federation.
