The customs service has denied reports of new searches

The Federal Customs Service (FTS) denied reports of new searches in the department. The press service of the FCS said that the department is working as usual.

• New searches at the Federal Customs Service were reported by Novaya Gazeta, citing unnamed sources. She also disseminated information about the resignation of three heads of the department. The newspaper did not name them. Information about the dismissal of employees of the FCS has not officially commented.
• On July 26, searches were carried out in the building of the FCS, as well as the house of the head of the service, Andrei Belyaninov. Shoe boxes filled with cash were found on him - in total, about 10 million rubles, 400 thousand dollars and 300 thousand euros were found. Belyaninov called this money "family savings."
• The searches were carried out as part of a criminal investigation into the smuggling of elite alcohol. Belyaninov is a witness in the case.
• On July 28, Belyaninov was dismissed. The order of the head of the government of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, said that the head of the FCS himself asked for his dismissal. Commenting on his resignation, Belyaninov expressed the hope that his career in public service would not end. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said on July 29 that "nothing prevents" Belyaninov from getting a new position. *
