
The Federal Customs Service (FCS) did not confirm the resignation of two members of the management of the department. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the representative of the press service of the FCS.

The publication also reported that the FSB officers are conducting searches in the central apparatus of the FCS. According to unnamed newspaper sources, some senior FCS employees can be detained according to the results of the searches. At the same time, the representative of the press service of the FCS told Interfax that the department was working as usual. The TASS source also denied information about investigative actions.
On the eve of the head of government, Dmitry Medvedev fired the ex-head of the FCS Andrei Belleininov and appointed the former presidential envoy in the North-Western Federal District Vladimir Bulavin in his place.

The Investigative Committee was connected by searches with the case against businessman Dmitry Mikhalchenko on the smuggling of alcohol. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov later stated that the ex-head of the FCS was a witness in this case.
