The former head of the Party of Regions in the Verkhovna Rada, Alexander Efremov, was detained at the Kiev airport in the Kiev airport. This was reported on his page by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuri Lutsenko.

"On suspicion of encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, the ex -head of the Prr. Efremov faction was detained," Lutsenko wrote.

Efremov was detained when he was going to fly to Vienna, the press secretary of the Prosecutor General Larisa Sargan noted .

Under the leadership of Efremov, there was a capture of the Lugansk Regional State Administration and the local branch of the SBU in the spring of 2014 . This was announced on the air "112 Ukraine" by the former member of the Party of Regions Vladimir Landik.

"He did not just encroach on the territorial integrity of Ukraine, he encroached on it, he did it with his own hands, with his minions. The first Russians who captured the building of our state administration on March 3 and 9, they were brought by his command and under the leadership of the chairman of the regional council Golenko. He paid buses, they were taken from Red Talovka and from Melodov. Brought again to capture the SBU. According to him, local deputies transmitted evidence of these facts to the SBU, however, when there was a capture of the local branch of the SBU, these materials disappeared.

Landik is convinced that Efremov was not accidentally taking tickets to Vienna right now. “He understood that sooner or later he would be detained. He wanted to show the whole country that the law -abiding one goes to court hearings in the case on January 16, and he was going to quietly disappear. He was not just riding his son,” Landik said. He stated that he was going to testify against Efremov.

On February 14, 2015 , Efremov was detained by employees of the Prosecutor General and the SBU. Against him, the charge of part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine was brought against him (abuse of power or official position). The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine opened a criminal case against Efremov in July 2014 after applying to the Department of Public Organization “Center for Combating Corruption”. In June 2014, Efremov was suspected of trying to block the airport of Lugansk and prevent the arrival of Ukrainian security forces there. However, accusations on this occasion were not presented to him.

The Pechersk court of Kyiv let Efremov let go of 3.6 million hryvnias. Soon against him was a charge of part 2 of article 161 (intentional actions aimed at inciting national, racial or religious enmity and hatred). On March 31, 2016, the prosecutor's office closed this criminal case and returned a security deposit of 60.9 thousand hryvnias. The case of corruption has currently been transferred to court.
