Writer Fazil Iskander dies

The writer Fazil Iskander has died. He was 87 years old.

Information about the death of Iskander was confirmed by the Writers' Union of Russia, Ekho Moskvy reports. Life writes that the writer died in Moscow on the night of July 31.

• Fazil Iskander was born in 1929 in Sukhumi. In 1954 he graduated from the Gorky Literary Institute in Moscow. In the 1950s, the first books of Iskander's poems were published, in 1966 the first story "The Constellation of Kozlotur" was published. Among his most famous works are "Sandro from Chegem", "Chik's Childhood", "Rabbits and Boas", "The Thirteenth Labor of Hercules".
