Putin and Erdogan will discuss compensation for Su-24

At a meeting of the presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, it is planned to discuss the issue of compensation for the Russian Su-24 shot down by the Turkish Air Force. This was announced by the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Yuri Ushakov, RIA Novosti reports.

When asked whether the Turkish authorities paid compensation, the diplomat said: “No, they did not pay. This issue will also be discussed [at the meeting of Putin and Erdogan]. ”

When asked whether Russia removes the requirements for compensation, Ushakov said: “We will discuss this issue.”

Putin and Erdogan will meet in St. Petersburg on August 9.

The Su-24 Russian bomber was shot down by the Turkish Air Force in November 2015 on the Syrian-Turkish border. After that, Russia imposed sanctions against Turkey. In June 2016, Erdogan apologized for the incident, after which the relations of the leadership of the two countries began to improve.
