The German newspaper Bild kept a promise about the boycott of the Russian national team at the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Early in the newspaper, they wrote about the intention of journalists to ignore all the victories of the Russian team at the Olympic Games in protest against "the use of doping athletes under the control of government and special services."

“If Russia still can take part in the Olympics, then Bild will not include it in the general medal test. We will cancel the results of Russians and tell about them. Western athletes also sometimes use doping, but when the government together with special services creates a national doping system, it is necessary to give a significant answer,” the July statement said.

“If the head of the IOC Thomas Bach does not want to make a laughing stock from the fight against doping and the Olympiad, then he has no other choice, except for the Russian national team,” the publication believed.
