The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) opened a case against Apple for coordination of pricing during iPhone sales is reported on the FAS website.
As specified in the message of the department, the case was opened under part 5 of Article 11 of the Law on the Protection of Competitor (a ban on the restriction of the agreements of business entities).
The investigation of the department has shown that since the beginning of official sales of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus in Russia, most of the resellers set the same prices on them, which held at the same level for a certain time.
The FAS believes that the coincidence of prices may be the result of the coordination of Apple pricing of Russian resellers. According to the department, it led to the adoption of “recommended” prices in the Russian market as mandatory.
The FAS suspected Apple in coordinating the establishment of prices for its products in Russia at the end of July. Earlier, the department has already warned that they could attract Apple to the proceedings if the price of a price conspiracy on the iPhone in Russia is excited.
In 2012, the FAS fined MTS and Vimpelcom for 16 and 18 million rubles, respectively, for price conspiracy in the sales of the iPhone 4.
