Festival "Island-1991": Program

"Island-1991": the program of the Chief Cultural Festival of Summer-from lectures to Riva and from concerts to performance.

The Ostrov-1991 festival, organized by Colta.ru, Presidential Center B.N. Yeltsin and the portal “Your History”, with the support of Zimin Foundation , will be held in the Museon Art Park in Moscow on August 20 , on the anniversary of the victory over the August putsch.

The festival program has the reconstruction of the events of August 1991 from the Theater.doc, a lecture marathon with stars of modern culture, showing Sergey Loznitsa’s film “Event”, discussion, round table about rave culture and the emergence of dance electronics in Russia, Solo acoustic concert of Vyacheslav Butusov, performances of key Moscow rock bands of the 90s, Poetic readings, performances, book collapse and much more.

  "What can be the Museum of the 90s"
  The 1990s are one of the most contradictory and mythologized eras of Russian history. Is it possible now, contrary to the split of public opinion, to write the story of this bright decade? And how can it be represented in a museum format? The Foundation of Yegor Gaidar and the publishing house “New Literary Review”, which prepared the book “The Museum of the 90s: The Territory of Liberty”, will share their experience in solving this problem. It was freedom that became the key concept in the creation of the “Museum of the 90s”-freedom as an experience that Russia was neither before nor after it was possible to survive.

At the Island-1991 festival, a special show “Events” will be held, the famous documentary of Sergei Loznitsa about the three dramatic days of the August Putch of 1991 in Leningrad. A quarter of a century later, the director turns to an event that has entered modern European history as the moment of "the birth of Russian democracy."

• Trolleybus No. 4320
  A symbol of victory over the putsch is a heroic trolleybus that participated in victory and was injured during the assault on the barricades. Twenty-five years later, he again with us: during the festival, the trolleybus will turn into an art object. In his salon, you can see a unique video shot by the artist and architect Alexander Brodsky, to make a virtual trip to Moscow in 1991.
  On August 19, 1991, while working on the route “B”, the trolleybus No. 4320, together with other cars, was stopped and used as a barricade on Tchaikovsky Street. The trolleybus was damaged as a result of the assault on the BMP barricade. In 1992, the only preserved copy of the “barricade” trolleybuses was located on the territory of the Central Museum of the Revolution of the USSR. Today, the trolleybus No. 4320 is on the responsible storage in the branch of the 6th trolleybus park of Mosgortrans.

The final musical event of the festival will be the solo acoustic concert of Vyacheslav Butusov, in front of which the cult Moscow groups “Alliance”, “Polite Refusal” and “Megapolis” will appear on the main stage. They will execute special programs where their famous songs of the 1990s will sound.
The second musical scene of the festival will be dedicated to dance electronics and the coming of rave culture to Russia, which also occurred in 1991. It will perform the pioneers of Russian electronic music-Valery Alakhov (“New Composers”) and Yuri Orlov (“Nikolai Copernicus”)-and the new Moscow producers of the Hyperboloid Records label, resurrecting the spirit of the Ravi of the 1990s in their music.

Rave on "Island"

“Rive on the“ Island ”” is the program of the second musical scene of the festival, which will be located on the steps near the embankment of the Museon Park and will be dedicated to dance electronics and the coming of rave culture to Russia at the dawn of the 90s. It will perform the patriarchs of Russian electronic music-“New Composers” and Yuri Orlov (“Nikolai Copernicus”)-and her new generation: the producers of the Hyperboloid Records label, resurrecting the spirit of the Riva of the 1990s.

  Promoter, DJ, co -owner of the Hyperboloid Records label, Musical Editor of the radio Chocolate . • Acid Mafia
  Dmitry Garin is a musical producer and founder of the Hyperboloid Records record-label. Acid Mafia is the embodiment of Dmitry Garin's passionate love for Acid House , which appeared in the late 1980s, which laid the foundation for the whole variety of modern bass music, from UK Hardcore to Dabstep. The recognizable sound of the Eisid House-oily, poisonously pulsating bass, prickly arpeggio, acid synthesizer passages and a crushing rhythm-symbolizes the beginning of the 1990s in dance electronics. Acid Mafia is as authentically restoring this sound, starting antique dramas and bass synthesizers along with the most modern sound technologies.

• Yuri Orlov
  Yuri Orlov is the leader of the cult group “Nikolai Copernicus”, the genius of the Moscow “New Wave”, who created its most sophisticated Russian samples. He was one of the first to be experimenting in Russia with electronic tools. He began by playing in the St. Petersburg group “Jungle” on an electronic saxophone. Саунд его неоромантической группы «Николай Коперник» был определен звуком аналоговых синтезаторов 1980-х, которые он коллекционировал.   Абсолютные классики русской танцевальной музыки из Санкт-Петербурга. Валерий Алахов и Игорь Веричев экспериментировали с коллажированием звуков с 1983 года. Им покровительствовал глава «Новой академии» Тимур Новиков, с ними сотрудничал Сергей Курехин, записывался и дружил Брайан Ино. «Новые композиторы» прошли все стадии эволюции электронной музыки и продолжают работать по сей день. Их программный сингл «Sputnik of Life» , записанный и выпущенный в Англии в 1990 году, стал большим хитом в Британии и одним из гимнов эйсид-хаусной рейволюции. В 1991 году под его живое исполнение танцевали москвичи на исторической Gagarin Party . Для выступления на «Острове-91» Валерий Алахов из «Новых композиторов» готовит программу из своих классических треков 1990-х, которые будут переизданы на виниловой пластинке осенью 2016-го. «Sputnik of Life» будет запущен еще раз!

• Pixelord
  Москвич Алексей Девянин — один из самых известных за рубежом современных российских электронных продюсеров. Pixelord — один из его проектов, в котором музыкант соединяет элементы многих электронных стилей 1990-х и нулевых, от footwork и garage до futuristic bass и grime , смешивая звуки из 8-битных видеоигр с хрупким ломаным ритмом. Алексей Девянин выпустил множество релизов Pixelord на различных лейблах, писал саундтреки к инсталляциям и балету, выступал на первом в России Boiler Room , объездил с турами Россию, Европу, Китай и США.

РОК НА «ОСТРОВЕ»

• "Alliance"
  Визитную карточку классиков московской «новой волны» — неоромантический гимн «На заре» — крутили в знаменитой телепрограмме «Взгляд» на излете перестройки. Отчасти поэтому, но скорее из-за точно схваченного ощущения времени, победы которого превратились в поражения, «На заре» воспринимается таким же музыкальным символом смены исторических эпох, как и цоевская «Мы ждем перемен». В 1990 году «Альянс» был группой всероссийского масштаба: они с успехом гастролировали по стране и выступали вместе с «Кино» на концерте на Большой спортивной арене «Лужников», который стал последним для Виктора Цоя. На фестивале «Остров-1991» «Альянс» исполнит программу из своих самых известных песен, включая «На заре», «Дайте огня», «Ночь сомнения», «Фальстарт» и другие.

• «Вежливый отказ»
  Умнейшая московская рок-группа, ведомая Романом Сусловым, удачно ускользнула от массовой культуры. Пожалуй, единственный след, оставленный в ней «Вежливым отказом», — это появление бас-гитариста Дмитрия Шумилова в фильме «АССА» в роли негра Вити. В 1989 году «Вежливый отказ», до этого экспериментировавший с регги-ритмами и с пантомимой, нашел свою стилистику, соединяющую русский эпос с авант-роком, и придумал концертную программу «Этнические опыты», в которой Роман Суслов отказался от поэтического текста в пользу языка фонем. С этим нечленораздельным пением «Вежливый отказ» был с восторгом принят за границей и гастролировал по всей Европе вплоть до 1991 года. На «Острове-1991» «Вежливый отказ» выступит в редком для себя формате рок-трио (гитара, бас и барабаны) и в том числе исполнит песни, написанные в 1990-х: «Гражданская война. Отступление», стихи для которой были написаны Григорием Дашевским, «Песня счастья» и «Портрет» со стихами Аркадия Семенова.

• «Мегаполис»
  В 1990 году фирма «Мелодия» выпустила дебютный виниловый диск молодых московских неоромантиков «Мегаполис» «Бедные люди». Одна из песен с этого диска — «Рождественский романс» — была написана на стихи Иосифа Бродского. Отдавая альбом на суд худсовета «Мелодии», лидер группы Олег Нестеров очень переживал, что песня на стихи некогда запрещенного поэта может отправить запись на полку. Но альбом издали, а вскоре в Советском Союзе стало можно петь что хочешь. Чуть позже в 1990 году «Мегаполис» записал новый альбом «Пестрые ветерочки», на котором пел Лев Лещенко и звучала написанная на стихи Андрея Вознесенского песня «Новое московское сиртаки», которой вскоре предстоит прогреметь на всю страну. На «Острове-1991» группа Олега Нестерова исполнит свои знаменитые песни из этого десятилетия.

• Вячеслав Бутусов
  В конце 1989 года Вячеслав Бутусов переезжает в Ленинград и набирает новый состав группы «Наутилус Помпилиус». Эти обстоятельства определяют второй этап расцвета в истории группы из Свердловского рок-клуба. В начале 1990-х «Нау» выпускает альбомы, которые сейчас являются наиболее популярными в его дискографии: «Наугад» (1990), «Чужая земля» (1992), «Титаник» (1994) и «Крылья» (1995) — и становится любимой рок-группой миллионов россиян и Данилы Багрова из фильма «Брат».
  На «Острове-1991» отмечающий в этом году 55-летие Вячеслав Бутусов исполнит акустические версии хитов «Нау» из 1990-х. Сольный концерт Вячеслава Бутусова станет финальным музыкальным событием фестиваля.

Ельцин Центр в Екатеринбурге — первый президентский центр в России, задача которого — сохранение, изучение и осмысление исторического наследия Бориса Ельцина в контексте политических и социальных событий 90-х. Открывшийся в конце 2015 года, он уже стал одной из самых интересных площадок страны для реализации современных гуманитарных проектов. Ядро центра — Музей первого президента России, уникальная мультимедийная экспозиция, построенная на новейших технологиях. Это не официозный мемориал, а современный проект, рассчитанный на живую дискуссию с гостями центра. Над музеем работали лучшие специалисты музейного дела, собранные в одну команду Президентским центром Б.Н. Ельцина и американской музейной компанией «Ральф Аппельбаум» ( RAA ).

Образовательный портал «Твоя история» — интерактивный образовательный проект, с помощью которого можно изучать историю не только по учебникам, но и используя современные средства образования: мультимедиа, интерактивные компоненты и возможность дистанционного обучения. Целью проекта является помощь преподавателям школ и университетов, учащимся и студентам в изучении, подготовке и проведении уроков, лекций и семинаров по современной истории России.

Zimin Foundation — некоммерческая организация, созданная с целью поддержки образования, науки и культуры как в России, так и за рубежом.

Парк искусств МУЗЕОН — уникальный музей скульптуры под открытым небом и одна из наиболее динамично развивающихся культурно-просветительских площадок города. МУЗЕОН — это не только место хранения исторических артефактов, но и необычное выставочное пространство, площадка для показов редкого кино, театральных постановок и оригинальных музыкальных фестивалей, центр самообразования и большая творческая мастерская.
