On August 9, the Supreme Court of Russia liquidated the all-Russian political party Volya in connection with extremist activities. The decision will be executed immediately, and the property of the party will be turned into the property of the Russian Federation. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to its own correspondent.
According to the Ministry of Justice of Russia, the official website of the Will of the People party posted materials that were recognized as extremist by court decisions.
The representatives of the party did not agree with the arguments of the Ministry of Justice, since the decision of the Ulyanovsk court, to which the ministry referred, was canceled, and all other decisions are at the stage of appeal.
The court also rejected the party’s requests to appoint a comprehensive philological and sociological examination of the “Choose Openly” leaflet, previously recognized as extremist by a valid court decision, and to call the head of the regional branch of the party in the Oryol region as a witness.
Earlier, Volya submitted documents to the CEC to register a list for the Duma elections, but instead of 200,000 signatures, it brought only a little more than 40,000. The Central Election Commission refused Volya to register the list.
In July, a court in Samara arrested Svetlana Lada-Rus (Peunova), chairman of the Volya party, in absentia, suspected of fraud, and she was put on the international wanted list. Criminal cases have been initiated against Lada-Rus and her party ally Marina Gerasimova under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Fraud on an especially large scale”.
