Rosbalt correspondent beaten in Rostov Center “E”

On August 10, Rosbalt correspondent Dmitry Remizov was beaten in Rostov-on-Don during an interview at the Center for Countering Extremism (Center “E”) in a criminal case about the preparation of a terrorist attack in Rostov. The journalist was asked about Smyshlyaev, the journalist replied that he did not remember such a person. The policeman hit me on the head three times. Following this, he began to threaten that he could bring me to criminal responsibility, showed me a dagger with a fascist swastika: he said that the dagger had been confiscated from some Nazis, and he would set such Nazis against me who would deal with me. After the end of the interview, the second policeman in the corridor threatened with physical harm, saying: “We will meet again,”

Maxim Smyshlyaev is one of the defendants in a criminal case for preparing a terrorist attack. According to investigators, he told another defendant, Artur Panov, how to make a bomb at home. Smyshlyaev denies this.

Investigators believe that Panov wanted to blow up the auditorium of the Rostov Gorky Drama Theater with a homemade bomb.

As part of the investigation of the case, Smyshlyaev’s friend Yulia Milova was interrogated as a witness. During the interrogation, employees of Center “E” threatened her , demanding to testify against Smyshlyaev.
