On August 12, the Medicorset Internet portal reported that in Bashkortostan, one day before the start, the educational forum UfaForum was canceled by the decision of the authorities.
The organizers of the youth educational space UfaForum planned to hold it at the Bashkir Republican boarding school No. 1. Lectures, seminars, discussions, trainings, meetings with famous people and presentations of projects were announced as part of the forum. A number of public organizations participated in the preparation of the event, among which were the Union of Bashkir Youth of the Chelyabinsk Region, the Bashkir Open League of KVN and, for example, the Association of Youth Communities of the Republic of Bashkortostan. Some of the 500 declared participants have already arrived in Ufa, but the forum was canceled just before it started.
According to Medikorset, the cancellation of the event is primarily due to the fact that one of the main organizers of the forum, Azat Badranov, turned out to be associated with the candidate for deputy from A Just Russia, Rail Sarbaev - during the presidential elections in the republic, Badranov was a member of Sarbaev's campaign headquarters. In 2014, on the eve of the elections, he left United Russia and joined the Civil Force party - each party could nominate only one presidential candidate. From "Civil Force" Sarbaev was nominated for the presidency of Bashkortostan, however, on the last day of registration of candidates, 15 minutes before the end of the working day, the party suddenly withdrew Sarbaev's candidacy. The candidate himself considered this the result of pressure from the current authorities of the republic.
Sarbaev, who served as prime minister of Bashkortostan in 2008, was tried several times to be prosecuted on charges of embezzlement of budgetary funds and abuse of power, but the court acquitted him.
Medicorset sources report that the administration of the republic fears that, under the guise of an educational forum, Sarbaev and his man Badranov are preparing a "political provocation." Now Sarbaev is a candidate for deputy from the Just Russia party.
Badranov says that now he is not connected in any way with Sarbaev, or with any electoral processes at all: “Yes, in the last elections of the head of the region, I really worked at the headquarters of Rail Salikhovich. Prior to my entry into the civil service, I actually made a living providing legal support for the electoral process. For example, after Sarbaev was removed from the election race, in the same 2014, I led a group of candidates from United Russia in one of the cities of the Moscow region, and a year earlier, from the same United Russia, I accompanied individual candidates in the State Assembly elections. For almost two years now, I have changed my occupation, I do not work in elections, not only in Bashkiria, but nowhere else at all. Accordingly, I am not a confidant of either Rail Sarbaev or any other candidate for deputies.”
