Jamin Sumson from Kenya became the winner of the marathon at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. She overcame the distance in 2 hours 24 minutes and 4 seconds.

The silver medalist was the representative of Bahrain Unis Kirva (2. 24.13). The bronze won Mara Dibab from Ethiopia (2. 24, 30). It is noted that the marathon caused huge traffic jams in Rio de Janeiro.

Russian athletes were removed from participation in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro due to disqualification of the National Federation. At the games, only a jump in the length of Daria Klina, who lives and trains abroad, was supposed to perform .
