In France, shortly after the attack in Nice, in mid -July, Burkini began to ban - a bathing suit for Muslims, covering almost the entire body. The ban was introduced already in three cities, including Cannes. Human rights activists sue the administration of cities in court, but so far it stands on the side of officials. "Medusa" says what led to the criminalization of a bathing suit.

In Cannes, Burkini on the beaches was forbidden to wear. “If a woman bathes in Burkini, this can collect a crowd and serve as a reason for a violation of public order,” said Mayor Cannes David Loznar. - [prohibition] is necessary to protect these women. Burkini - the clothes of radical Islamists, not Muslims in general. ” Lesunovar noted that the ban can be applied to women in Sari, since traditional Indian clothing can prevent them from saving them in the case of an emergency on the water.

The Cannes Law does not say about the ban on Burkini directly. It indicates that you can not come to the beach in clothes, which does not correspond to "morality and secularism." The penalty for wearing Burkini on the beach in Cannes is 38 euros and is valid from the end of July to August 31. So far, penalties have not been used to anyone.

An example of Cannes was followed by two more cities. At first, the ban on Burkini introduced the city on the azure bank Willenev-moon, followed by Sisko on the island of Corsica, and in Sisko the ban was introduced after a mass fight. The incident occurred on August 13: according to eyewitnesses, a group of immigrants from North Africa attacked local youth after they photographed women swimming in Burkini. Several people were injured, including harpoon . In addition, local residents burned several cars belonging to the attacking Muslims, and the next day they reached the rally.

The public organization “Group against Islamophobia in France” appealed the ban on wearing Burkini. From the point of view of the organization, such a ban violates the rights of Muslims; Nevertheless, the court has already rejected their lawsuit. The court ruling says that in the “current circumstances” the wearing of Burkini can be perceived not just as a “religious sign”.

Under the “current circumstances”, the latest terrorist attacks in France are referred to. On July 14, 2016, an Islamist in a truck crushed 85 people in Nice (a city located next to Cannes). On July 26, in the north of France, a priest was killed in the church. The group against Islamophobia in France draws attention to the fact that a third of those who died as a result of the attack in Nice are Muslims . Human rights organizations also insist that the ban on Burkini violates the rights of women.

The ban on wearing Burkini is not the only restriction in France related to clothing. Since 2010, in public places you can’t walk with a closed face. For this, a fine of 150 euros is relied. The ban applies to representatives of all religions.
