
Police officers detained the director of the Cheremkhovsky neuropsychiatric boarding school and his deputy after mass poisoning of the pupils of the institution and the death of children. The head of the territorial department of the Office of the Rospotrebnadzor of the Irkutsk region in the Cheremkhovsky and Alar districts was also detained, according to the website of the Investigative Committee.
"Investigators of the regional IC of Russia, in collaboration with police officers, as part of the investigation of criminal cases about the death of children as a result of an infectious disease, were detained by persons whose actions (inaction) directly entailed the possibility of a massive disease," the press release said. The issue of choosing a preventive measure is being decided.
The official representative of the RF IC Vladimir Markin said that a criminal case is being investigated under Part 2 of Art. 109 of the Criminal Code ("causing death by negligence due to improper performance by a person of his professional duties"), part 1 of Art. 293 of the Criminal Code ("negligence").
As stated in the TFR, a systematic violations are established, committed both in the organization of the activities of a social institution and in the organization of its medical support. "In connection with this, the consequence is actively working to identify officials responsible for the general organization of work," Markin noted.
According to the investigation, the officials of the boarding school allowed the mass infection of the pupils with acute intestinal infection. From July 24 to August 17, 45 pupils were hospitalized. Four children died , three more are currently in the intensive care unit.
