In Sochi, a case was opened against a couple of pensioners Valentina and Klara Donchi-ool, who fought against cutting down trees in their yard. They are suspected of illegal cutting of trees. In the prosecutor's office they were told that the case had been opened on their own application, where they complained about the felling.
The decision to initiate proceedings states that in February 2016, Valentin Donchi-ool cut down a palm tree and laurel, and his wife helped him with advice, and also promised to remove traces from the crime scene.
The investigator at the police department said that the damage is about 500 thousand rubles. The maximum punishment that threatens pensioners is four years in prison or a fine of up to 1.5 million rubles.
The house manager said that most of the residents decided to make a parking lot in front of the house, so some of the trees had to be cut down. Valentin and Klara Donchi-ool repeatedly complained to the police and other authorities that the felling was illegal. The house manager insists everything is legal.
“Valentin Donchi-ool, with the help of these tools, deliberately, realizing the public danger and illegality of his illegal actions,. without any permission issued by the authorized body, carried out illegal damage to the extent of cessation of growth of trees not classified as forest plantations, namely trachycarpus forchun (palm) and laurel, ”the document says.
