The Pskov governor substantiated an increase in duties on electronics to 60%

The Governor of the Pskov Region Andrei Turchak claims that the increase in customs duties on electronic equipment to 60% will not be a violation of the WTO rules and will help the development of domestic industry. It is reported by TASS .

“First of all, we mean those types of electronic equipment for which Russian companies have all the necessary competencies. For many of them, customs duties account for 0%, which makes their production economically inappropriate in our country. We propose to change this situation, ”said Turchak.

He said that Brazil, India and China set customs duties up to 60%, but remain members of the WTO.

Earlier, Turchak proposed to President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to increase customs duties for imported electronics from 14% to 60%.

In a letter to the president, the governor wrote that raising duties will bring the budget more than 600 billion rubles and will create more than 20 thousand new jobs.
