The International Olympic Committee annulled the results of the Russian runner Anastasia Kapachinskaya at the Beijing Olympics for the use of doping, according to the IOC website. All the results shown to her at the 2008 games are canceled.

The solution also applies to a relay race of 4x400 m, in which Kapachinskaya fled for the Russian team at one of the stages. Then the team took second place and received silver medals.

The IOC notes that Russia is deprived of awards and the Russian Olympic Committee must return them. The results of the race will be adjusted.

In the 2008 Olympics, prohibited substances were discovered. Positive results were also given the samples of the ten-collar of Alexander Pogorelov, who took fourth place in Beijing, and the pusher of the nucleus Ivan Yushkov (10th place).

Earlier, the IOC deprived the women's relay team of Russia of the 2008 Olympics gold medals in a 4x100 m race due tothe positive doping tests of Julia Cherkshanskaya.

In the spring and summer, the IOC held two waves of the recruitment of doping tests taken at the Olympic Games in Beijing and London. In total, 1243 samples were double -checking, 98 of which (60 Beijing and 38 London) turned out to be positive. Following the results of the test of the participants of Beijing 2008, the samples of 14 Russian athletes, 11 of which are athletes, showed a positive result.

In November 2015, the International Association of Athletics federations (IAAF) deprived the All -Russian Athletics Federation of membership. Thus, all Russian athletes were removed from participation in international tournaments. In June 2016, IAAF upheld its decision, which automatically meant the removal of Russian athletes from the Olympiad in Rio.

After this, the OCD and 68 Russian athletes filed a lawsuit in the sports arbitration court, demanding that IAAF be recognized as illegal, according to which all Russian athletes were removed from participation in the Olympics. At the end of July, CAS rejected this lawsuit .

On August 15, CAS satisfied the appeal of the Russian athlete Daria Klisina and allowed her to the games . Klavina was the only Russian athlete allowed by IAAF for games, since since the end of 2013 she lived and trained in the USA.
