For the construction of Zenit-Arena, they will save 2.6 billion in schools and hospitals

The Government of St. Petersburg for 2.6 billion rubles cut funds allocated for the construction of schools, kindergartens and hospitals, and the released money was sent to the construction of Zenit-Arena. This was reported by Fontanka.ru with reference to the relevant resolution, issued on August 17.

1.7 billion rubles will be spent on the construction of the stadium itself, and another 900 million - on the arrangement of infrastructure - parking lots and input pavilions.

This decision will slow down the construction of approximately 30 social facilities, including seven kindergartens, six schools, clinics and the perinatal center.

At the Zenit-Arena, it is supposed to hold part of the matches of the 2018 World Cup. The stadium was laid in the western part of the Krestovsky Island in 2007. His project was adjusted three times: in 2008, 2010 and 2013. Each time, the cost of the arena increased, and as a result, it increased from the initial 6.7 billion rubles to 43.8 billion.

The Accounts Chamber demanded to reduce costs to 35 billion rubles by refusing non -core space. As a result, however, the cost of construction was reduced only to 39.2 billion rubles. Subsequently, she again grew to 42 more billions.

In 2013 and 2016, two cases of fraud were instituted in the construction of the stadium. In mid -May and early July in St. Petersburg, searches were held among subcontractors. Regarding the July searches, it is known that they were carried out in the second of these cases. Its details were not specified - as claimed, in the interests of the investigation.

On July 13, workers of subcontracting organizations held a protest due to non-payment of salaries. OMON arrived at the place, but no power actions followed. The workers diverged after communicating with officials of the city administration and the prosecutor's office.

Two days later, the authorities of St. Petersburgterminated contracts with the general contractors of construction - LLC "Engineering Corporation" Transstroy "and JSC" Transstroy Corporation ".

On August 10, it became known that the Metrostroy company was chosen by the new general contractor . According to the Metrostroy project, the stadium should finish by December 26th. The general director of the company Vadim Alexandrov assured that he would try to meet these terms.
