Two and a half months remain before the presidential election in the United States. Republican candidate Donald Trump thoroughly shook the leadership of his election headquarters, which somewhat streamlined the maintenance of the campaign, but the lag from Hillary Clinton reduced this only minimally.
The advantage of the candidate of the Democratic Party over Trump, according to the generally accepted opinion, is very much among voters born outside America, of which there are more than ten percent in the country. What is not surprising in the light of plans declared by the New York businessman to deport all illegal migrants, build barriers on the southern borders of the country and prohibit the entry of Muslims into it. How generally accepted opinion accurately reflects the mood among immigrants as a whole is an open question, but in relation to one community of immigrants, Russian -speaking, it definitely does not correspond to reality.
The Russian-speaking Diaspora of New York is the largest in the United States (more than half a million people) and, it seems, very representative. In any case, there is no reason to believe that the alignment of political moods in it is significantly different from that in any other large community of immigrants from the former USSR existing in America. The interlocutor of Radio Liberty Alexei Nakson , the leading observer of the most popular Radio Davidzon Russian -speaking radio station in the country, believes that the vector is inclined in favor of Trump.
-The current presidential elections, surrendered, politicized the Russian New York more than any other fight in our memory for the highest post in the state ...

- Oh, yes, they were very politicized. Over the past fall, winter and spring, I felt how the degree of mood of our public increased. The Russian -speaking community for the mass, as is well known, is conservative, prosed. Therefore, while republican primaries were going on, passions in our audience were also boiling, but not very much, because it was still the struggle "intraspecific". Well, after the end of the primaries, when the candidates from both parties were decided, emotions were truly gone. People are sharply reacting to all the information related to the elections. Not only during the current show, but also just on any electoral news.
- The Russian -speaking community, as you mentioned, is conservative to the masses. The majority will vote for the "fellow countryman", the New Yorka Donald Trump. Please analyze the composite of this Protrampov majority.
The maximum duration of Trump's concentration on any topic is five minutes
-Well, firstly, there is a category of convinced Republicans who will vote for any presidential candidate that the party nominated. These are ideological people. The second category covers people not necessarily ideological. They are not even familiar with the ideology of conservatism, but they actively do not like the Clintons couple and therefore vote against them. The third category that I see among our listeners are those who worry about the fate of Israel and see in Trump a more reliable security defender of the Jewish state than to Clinton.
- There is another Protrampov cohort in the Russian -speaking electorate, maybe not as numerous as the first three, but it should not be discharged from accounts. Recently, by the way, the share of this cohort is growing steadily ...
- In our audience there are various national segments: Jews, Ukrainians, immigrants from Central Asia, Russians. In recent years, it was for the Russian segment of Barack Obama that was the personification of the anti -Russian or even Russophobic approach to their historical homeland. And as soon as Trump appeared with his idea of friendship with Russia, they stood under his banners. And since Trump is unusually emotional, they involuntarily imitate him and speak as faintly as he himself. Hence such a high degree of political tension in the Russian -speaking community. Russian -speaking businessmen prefer Trump Hillary Clinton for pragmatic considerations: he wants to reduce taxes from enterprises, it is to increase. Many immigrants-professional immigrants built into American life with its cultural and political values simply do not trust Clinton as a person: too often, they say, her words diverge from facts. If we talk about the immigrant segment injected into American society, then its Jewish part of Trump Roads with its proselic and anti -Muslim moods; Russian - benevolence to Russia.
Trump to earn my voice must change or at least make an attempt to change
- What do you think about the direct dependence affirmed by sociologists between the level of humanitarian education of the voter and his sympathies to Hillary Clinton? Is it also visible in Russian New York?

- In general, yes. There is a direct parallel with the phenomenon of general American significance. It is one thing if our person took place as the owner of a small enterprise, then he, as a rule, is categorically configured against Hillary and Democrats. And a completely different story, if it took place in America in a scientific or teaching environment, and there are also many among the immigrants from the former union. Do not be surprised if the latter adopt the moods of their environment and vote in the same way as it. Representatives of this category are found among our listeners, I sometimes communicate with them at their creative evenings, but in the context of the current show they are passive in comparison with the Protrampov part of the audience, they do not determine neither the parameters of the discussion or its energy. Among other things, the Protrampov part of the audience is more elderly, pension, they have more free time, and perhaps because of their activity on the air they create somewhere somewhere even a somewhat distorted impression on the scale of support for the republican candidate by the Russian-language community.
Mikhail Baryshnikov is in support of Hillary Clinton and against Donald Trump: - Forty -two years ago, I left one country that erected obstacles to live in another country that did not know the barriers. Today, I, a citizen of the United States, for the first time since that time I hear words that remind me of the Soviet Union of my youth. Where to be unlike the majority was considered a crime, and where it is still considered a crime. America that I love open the doors to people of any nationality and any faith and supports any form of expression. America accepted me, the immigrant, making my creative growth possible. Hillary Clinton believes in this America and fights for it for half a century. I am sure that she will choose the right path for us. That she will protect the rights of all citizens. And it will ensure the sound and skillful leadership of the country in the complex world in which we live. I trust her our collective future. I know what I’m talking about: hundreds of thousands of people like me fled from the places in which desporttunists like Donald Trump are refueling. Save our beloved America from such a fate! - concludes dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov Video in support of Hillary Clinton.
In politics, no rule, the exception: the humanitarium, the world -famous linguist Professor Igor Melchuk, is a fiery supporter of Trump, whom he puts a head higher than Clinton as concerning the main, from his point of view, of modernity - the fight against radical Islam. Nevertheless, the rule is stronger than the exception, and much more typical for the intelligent layer of the Russian -speaking community, the position of our guest, founder and head of the Liberty publishing house, a long -standing immigrant from Lithuania Ilya Levkov .
- Ilya, you decided who you will vote in November for?
- No, I did not decide.
“And why are you sluggish?”
- Why am I wearing? Well, firstly, there is nowhere to hurry: before the start of early voting, another month, and until November-more than two. Secondly, I have certain problems with both candidates.
- What are these problems and how are you going to solve them on days left before the elections?
- The problems of these two properties are personal and essential. As a political scientist by profession, I am evil, picky and very demanding of those people who decide to give my vote, do you understand? If I came only from the criterion who breaks fewer firewood, then I would vote with Trump with a light heart. But I can’t be content with this criterion. Despite his solid age, I have preserved the remnants of conscience, and they will not let me sleep calmly if I go to my choice is not thoroughly enough. At this stage, Trump, in order to earn my voice, must change or at least make an attempt to change and become a serious candidate, and not repeat endlessly that people like me have no alternative, that we must vote for him. What does "no alternative" mean? There is always an alternative: for example, I can vote for the Libertarians.
Hundreds of thousands of people like me fled from the places in which desporttunists like Donald Trump are refueling.
- Why is Trump not satisfied?
- As the Americans say, he does not have "emotional maturity", Emotional Maturity. He is terribly uneducated, he did not read a single book in his life. The maximum duration of its concentration on any topic is five minutes. Trump speaks in some bazaar English, using five hundred words that he is not able to build into a normal finished sentence. Or bring to the end at least one more or less complex thought. It is doing me. How can the US president, the leader of the Free World, be so miserable?
- At the same time, all the shortcomings of Trump have not yet outweigh your negative attitude to Clinton.
- Yes, this is so, her sins are heavier than Trumpovsky: I do not remember a single other presidential candidate as deeply corrupt as she is. In addition, Clinton promises that her policy will be even more left than both of Obama’s reign, whose popularity today is clearly not high. Nevertheless, many thinking people remain in the Clinton camp.
- Why, how do you think?
- I suppose this is a kind of psychological aberration.
Even farther on the "anti -Tramp" scale is the famous film director, creator of the cult film "Liquid Sky" Glory Tsuckerman :
“My first disagreement with Trump's adherents, both here, in America and in Russia, is that they believe Trump and believe that he will fulfill their election promises.” And I don't believe. His promises, it seems to me, are not worth a broken one. Since none of them is supported by any real plans. This is an irresponsible demagogy, like that of Zhirinovsky, who promises each woman a man. Trump's explosive, impulsive character will lead to the fact that even a friendship with Russia, which is possible at first, will quickly turn into hostility. A person is so inexperienced and so uncontrollable is able to lead the world to a nuclear war. Electing such a person by the head of state is extremely irresponsible. Those who see for his ranting the real program, in my opinion, are deeply mistaken. First of all, you should pay attention to his character, and not what he says. There are moments and purely meaningful. We all know the widespread opinion that the main threat to the West comes from Muslims and that Trump is the only one who is able to resist this. This is true with accuracy, on the contrary: Muslims would not mean anything in modern life, there would be no extremism and terrorism, if not for the greed of the West, which built its economic success on oil. You can relate to Obama differently, but he is the first and only who really tried to expand America in the direction of alternative energy sources, the development of which was artificially inhibited for many years, and thereby taking a step towards the salvation of mankind. Trump directly states that he will return to oil and that he does not see the meaning in the new energy. In my opinion, this is the path to disaster, ”Slava Zuckerman believes.
Polar views on two leading presidential candidates among immigrant communities are characteristic not only for Russian -speaking America. No less split is observed among immigrants from India. Moreover: according to the results of the online questionnaire of the metropolitan Washington Examiner, we should abandon the usual ideas about the support of Donald and Hillary by immigrants as a whole, as in the first generation, as their children and even grandchildren. For example, 61 percent of immigrants shares the opinion of Trump about the desirability of introducing a mandatory test for loyalty, that is, to verify all the newly arrived by the political ideals of America. Half of all immigrants allegedly also approves the proposal of Trump to build a wall on the border with Mexico, and 68 percent are in solidarity with his idea of a joint struggle against ISIS (the terrorist group banned in Russia. - RS) .
