The medal in honor of the outstanding Russian mathematician and physicist, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Ludwig Faddeev will appear among other prestigious scientific awards. The European Research Committee on the Quantum Multiparticle Problem and the Multiparticle Systems Topic Group of the American Physical Society have established the Faddeev medal.
The preamble to the new award notes that it will honor researchers who have achieved breakthrough results in multi-particle physics. The winner will be selected by an international panel of experts and the medal will be awarded every three years during the International Multi-Particle Physics Conference. The award will be financially supported by the American Physical Society and the publishing company Springer, which publishes the scientific journal Few - Body Systems . The announcement of the medal was made at the 23rd European Conference on Multiparticle Quantum Theory, held in Denmark from 8 to 12 August 2016. “This scientific community was formed on the basis of my work 55 years ago (“Scattering theory for a system of three particles”) and is still actively working,” emphasized L.D. Faddeev in a commentary to TrV-Nauka.
