"Garage" is arranged

On August 27 and 28, a special program of impressions dedicated to the book of the French philosopher Dilye Delose “Kino”, which was released “Garage” and the AD Marginem Publishing House, will be presented on the roof of the Museum of Contemporary Art “Garage”.

Three films were selected in the show of shows- Fake ( For Fake , USA, 1973) Orson Wells, “Shadows” ( Shadows , USA, 1959) John Cassavetis and Fitzcarraldo ( Fitzcarraldo , Germany, 1982) Werner Herzoga.

These films are not only mentioned and examined by a section in the book “Kino” , but also serve to reveal its key concepts: the image-movement, image-time and image-action, the website of the Garage Museum reports.

“The films of Orson Wells, John Cassavetis and Werner Hertzog show how in post-war cinema it became possible to overcome the crisis of the image-action completely independent from each other (Hollywood ignored this crisis, putting a whole arsenal of spectacular cliches into service). - The organizers of the shows write. -The body, false and fear-three weapons against cliches: John Cassavetis invents "Direct Cinema", where the bodies, poses and faces directly create an image time; Orson Wells uses all the potencies of false to blow up the obsessive linearity of the narrative from the inside; In turn, the cinema of Werner Herzog prolongs the image-action beyond his borders, making the characters of the impossible from the characters of the heroes, gaining themselves in the infinity of hallucinatory visions of nature. ”

The introductory lecture for the program will be given by the philosopher, researcher of visual culture and the scientific editor of many translations of the section into Russian Oleg Aronon.
