The most important event this week was the detention of farmers and truck drivers who participated in the “tractor march” to Moscow, organized by the Kuban movement “Polite Farmers”. Farmers from the Krasnodar region who wanted to complain to Putin about local officials were initially stopped every now and then on the road . Then they were blocked in the Rostov region , two truck drivers who were filming the video were detained and beaten , and finally everyone was detained . Truckers from other regions who planned to join the march were prevented from doing so in various ways . Three march participants were placed under arrest for ten days, and the organizer, Alexei Volchenko, was taken from his home by FSB officers and placed in a temporary detention facility. The FSB is “working” with the fined march participants and their relatives.
Criminal prosecutions
Alexander Belov (Potkin), one of the leaders of the “Russians” movement, was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison on charges of money laundering, organizing an extremist community, inciting hostility and calls for extremism.
An investigation began against his comrade in the movement, Dmitry Demushkin, in the case of reposting the picture.
A case has been opened against Left Bloc activist Danil Alferyev: he is accused of inciting hatred for a video in which he parodied Eurasians. In connection with the investigation, Alferyev was detained in a Moscow apartment and sent to Ulyanovsk, where he is registered.
Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ilmi Umerov, accused of calling for separatism and suffering from Parkinson's disease and heart disease, is undergoing a forced psychiatric examination. Activists note that Umerov has become much worse . Meanwhile, his relativeswere under surveillance .
Anti-fascist Alexander Kolchenko, sent to a colony on charges of terrorism in Crimea, was placed in a punishment cell for being in the local zone in a T-shirt and shorts because it was very hot.
No freedom of assembly
Russian authorities do not allow celebrating Ukraine's Independence Day: arrests were madein Moscow and St. Petersburg , two activists were given warnings in Crimea, and one of them was also summoned for questioning .
In St. Petersburg, several people were detained at a meeting with a candidate for deputy .
In Moscow, participants of the rally were detained in memory of the march to Red Square in 1968.
In Petrozavodsk, a rally has not been approved for three months.
Other types of persecution
The secretary of the Krasnodar branch of the Communists of Russia party, Mikhail Abrahamyan, was attacked by unknown assailants when he was traveling to the Stavropol Territory to participate in a debate and picket. He was taken to a field and advised not to appear in the region again.
Anton Belichenko, an activist of the National Revolutionary Vanguard organization, was visited at home by police officers who questioned his relatives about his activities and threatened to “cover him up.”
This week, searches took place at religious organizations: in the Moscow Church of the Archangel Raphael of the True Orthodox Church and in the religious buildings of Jehovah's Witnesses in Samara and the Stavropol Territory. During searches of Jehovah's Witnesses, prohibited literature was discovered. Community representatives believe that it is being planted on them.
