Yakov Krotov: Our guest is a psychologist, head of the St. Petersburg Research Center for Integral Synergetic Psychology and Psychotherapy Anatoly Office , author of the wonderful book “Father Pavel and his faith”, dedicated to Father Pavel Adelegam , who was tragically died, was killed.
The general topic of the program is fate as the point where theology, faith, psychology, history, and cultural studies intersect.
But let's start with Father Pavel Adeelheim. The man was killed. For many in the spiritual fathers , Alexander Men - they chopped a man. And the question arises: is this, fate? It is written by someone on the clade, and this cannot be avoided? How did you comprehend the death of your spiritual father for yourself?
Anatoly Office: Yes, of course, this is fate! Look, grandfather was shot four months before his birth, his father was shot - here two generations had already died before him by violent death. Father Paul died a violent death, moreover, he somehow waited for her. In a conversation with his spiritual child-now-the priest Sergei Gankovsky, he once said: "You know, Seryozha, to die in his bed surrounded by relatives is somehow bourgeois." It was somewhere in the late 70s.
Fate as the point where theology, faith, psychology, history, and cultural studies intersect
Yakov Krotov : Still, Father Paul was sitting, and I am afraid that he said it was not from the priesthood, but from camp experience.
It seems to me that Christianity is, first of all, freedom. And for a modern person, freedom is something opposite to fate. I would say that two thousand years ago, the Greeks lived under the figure of Tikh, the goddess of fate, the Romans had Fortune, the Jews lived under the rule of God. Today, the vast majority of people, believers and unbelievers, live under the rule of matter. There is a medium, there is a gene pool, there is a culture, there is something that determines the life of my parents, my country ...
Anatoly Office: And if something already determines, then what is the category of freedom, how much does it spread then?
Yakov Krotov: And not how much! Freedom is a conscious necessity, God forgive. I agree that the environment, heredity, culture, economics are saying in us, and I understand that the hungry belly for learning is deaf. But then I squeezed, on the one hand, by matter, and on the other hand, I am squeezed by the god of the Bible, because there is also predestination, foresight, Providence of God, the judges of God. I read such hypocritical reminders that fate is the judgment of God ... And we are in a vice and a Christian nowhere to go.
Anatoly Office: Well, this is a post -fact. The Last Judgment will be determined, and before that ... we are losing a prognostic function, if we are talking about the judge of God, already in the fact of all that we have created. But then there is no meaning in the knowledge of fate.
After all, fate began to be known at the beginning of the last century. There was such a founder of fateanalysis, a Swiss psychologist, psychiatrist Leopold Sonda . But this is his scientific pseudonym, and his name was Lipochka Sonnenshain, and he was a younger, 12th child in a very poor and large family. The father was very religious, and therefore nothing was glued to his business. And so Lipa noticed that some brothers had very unsuccessful marriages, and they were married to health workers. During the First World War, being in the hospital, Lipa fell in love with a nurse, a Christian, and then he remembered that his brother had a marriage with a nurse, Christian and marriage was terrible! He realized that this was such a fate and escaped from the hospital. A man devoted his whole life to the fact that he ran from his fate, from a certain program.
Freedom is a conscious necessity, God forgive me
Yakov Krotov: Did Father Paul run from his fate?
Anatoly Office: I think Father Paul trusted his fate.
Yakov Krotov: I read a lot that modern Russian theologians and just believers write about fate: fate means that the Lord does not send a cross to anyone, you can always bear it, at any separate minute you are in the best to save the situation, and all the people to you - like angels, sent by God. Firstly, then I am very disgusting to me. Secondly, I recall that this, in essence, is not Christianity, but Voltaire : "Everything for the best in this best world." Moreover, Voltaire wrote this mockingly, in a polemic with other philosophers of the 18th century, who were inclined to consider just so. Then what is the difference between a Christian attitude to life and this mechanistic representation that everything is for the best?
Anatoly Office: I do not understand the category "believers". For me, unbelievers do not exist. Some believe in the existence of the Lord God, others believe in His absence.
Yakov Krotov: Have you been born in a believing family or came to God?
Anatoly Office: No, this happened after 20, and the foreboding was very early, up to 13 years. I studied very poorly at school, stuttered terribly, did not accept my life. It is enough to remember how much I got on the head because of my stuttering. You make your way to the bus to the exit, and they knock on the head on top: "What, can you ask?" And you cannot ask! And I did not want to live this life, and there was no one to turn to, and then a premonition of these transcendental forces arose, and it somehow influenced.
Yakov Krotov: I have an atheistic experience of approximately the same size, but this is not a faith that there is no God, but the experience of indifference to the problem itself, polystylevation of Tolstoy, the gospel ... A cultural person must read all this.
Anatoly Office: Blez Pascal said: "If there is no God, but I believe in him, then I do not lose anything. And if God is, but I do not believe, then I lose everything."
Yakov Krotov: Pascal was a mathematician, and this partly excuses him. But in general, this is a reasoning, murderous to God, for faith. After all, if you believe just in case, then this is spiritual death, it is blasphemy!
For me, unbelievers do not exist. Some believe in the existence of the Lord God, others believe in His absence
Anatoly Defense: Yes, this is consumption, which is now extremely developed in society. We live to consume.
Yakov Krotov: Why consumption? This is a wild fear and an attempt to convince myself that "I will go to church so that there is better."
Anatoly Office: Well, this is generally church Christian magic! I will perform some rituals, rituals ...
Yakov Krotov: But a person does not believe, and he is in our plane. This is not good and not bad, it is a fact. There are unbelievers. If we say that there are no unbelievers at all ... I know this rhetorical figure, and I like it because it generally depreciates, as they say, the seal of the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Anatoly Office: Well, everyone will have to die, and everyone thinks about it. So, they ask this question of existence ...
Yakov Krotov: What is the connection between dying and faith?
Anatoly Office: Fear.
Yakov Krotov: Faith comes from fear, and love probably happens from fear, but what's good about it? You can cope with the fear of death without faith.
Anatoly Office: You can.
Yakov Krotov: Stoicism , epicureism , Marxism-Leninism, but just get drunk, drink half a liter ...
Anatoly instant: with insufficient thinking, insufficient awareness, this can be dealt with, but ...
Yakov Krotov: Do you reproach Senece with insufficient thinking?
Anatoly Office: What to do, it is ...
If you are slowly approaching the abyss every day, then you humble yourself with this thought. And Vera does not do something qualitatively new here
Yakov Krotov: There are also questions about death on each page! "Remember death and do not be embarrassed." Well, an average person like me, even if he is an unbeliever, gets used to it: if you are slowly approaching the abyss every day, then you humble yourself with this thought. And Vera does not do something qualitatively new here.
Anatoly instant: then we cannot control the course of our life path. If we are mortal, we understand our life as a segment from the letter P to the letter C, and the question arises of what this period will be. Here a child from three to five years old realizes that he is mortal. Death enters - and a person begins to think: what will my life be? And at the moment, the management attempts begin.
Yakov Krotov: You contradict yourself. You said that the meaning of life is in love. But love and management are incompatible. Management is non -freedom for who they control and for the one who controls. And love is freedom.
Anatoly Office: Is freedom not an opportunity to choose?
Yakov Krotov: It seems not. If freedom were an opportunity to choose, then all the inhabitants of the despotic totalitarian countries who wish freedom should have immediately been hanged.
I recall the incident with Father Alexander Menem, whom one memoirist recalled. Some kind of dissident comes to him (not very believing, not very dissident who did not sit, so front-by-front) and begins to vilify the Soviet government: they say, there is no life at all ... "Father Alexander says:" But I live somehow freely. I live in freedom. " Freedom is a measurement of love, not management. Power corrupts (recall the words of the great church historian John Akton). And every time we make power from freedom, this is the beginning of death. I came, not to serve me, but to serve.
Anatoly Office: I agree. But where is the freedom after all, what can it appear then?
Love is freedom
Yakov Krotov: In love.
Anatoly Office: And love - isn't it an opportunity to choose?
Yakov Krotov: When the modern movement for the liberation of women began, for the cessation of discrimination of sexual minorities, there was the first argument that it was a woman does not depend on the woman, so those who oppress women are similar to the Nazis who exterminated Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, Jehovah's witnesses , because being a Jew or a gypsy does not depend on a person. If a person is contemptuous of a woman only because it is a woman, then this is a kind of Holocaust, genocide. The same is sexy minorities. Before our eyes, there was some kind of turn of 180 degrees, and now all these phenomena are protected under a different slogan - that this is a personal choice of everyone. So I said that I am a transvestite, and we must respect this, not check.
Anatoly Defense: And how free this choice is, if there is heredity, environmental influence, society and the culture in which we live, are there any value attitudes?
Yakov Krotov: Not one hundred percent, but the context makes it possible to be free. If I do not go to the library, I have no freedom to read library books, and it appears only if I am literate and went to the library. If I - Mowgli and grew up among the wolves, then I am free to run and bark. I am free to be a person only if I am among people. Wonderful!
Anatoly Office: Yes, relative freedom.
If I - Mowgli and grew up among the wolves, then I am free to run and bark. I am free to be a person only if I'm among people
Yakov Krotov: And here they tell me that love should not be narrowing freedom by the factor. I fell in love with someone, but I have the right to love another, my love resource is endless, this is said about this and the Bible.
Anatoly Office: We have the right, but do we have the opportunity? Now I am writing a great work on the development and formation of the institution of the family, from antiquity to its modern state. And as a result of research, we came to the conclusion that we need to separate the categories of love and love. These are diametrically opposite things. Love is when "I want you", this is my consumption. And my desires in me are programmed, they no longer very depend on me. And love is when "I want you" when I find myself from myself. So, if we are talking about love, then there is both right and obligation, and if we are talking about love, then there are right and there are some opportunities, by the way, very limited.
Yakov Krotov: Is there then fate in love? So I think that in love, maybe there is no fate, but there is the will of God. Marriages are committed in heaven.
Anatoly Defense: tell me, the multiplication table exists according to the will of God? And the periodic system of chemical elements?
Yakov Krotov: Periodic system - by the will of Mendeleev.
Anatoly Office: did he create or opened it?
Yakov Krotov: Well, okay, well, by the will of God ...
Anatoly Office: So, the will of God is expressed in some laws.
Yakov Krotov: There are six billion people on Earth (now, probably already seven), two billion - Chinese and Hindu, and now the person loves, and the question arises: when I love, I know that this is finally released from the lust of the flesh, from passions, because I went into love from the kingdom?
Love is when "I want you", this is my consumption. And love is when "I want you" when I find myself from myself
Anatoly Office: What is "I love", then? What can anyone?
Yakov Krotov: Yes!
Anatoly Office: In my opinion, before that you have to grow up! Love is a talent that is as rare as any other, and it must be formed. To fall in love is easily! Students ask me: what is love? I say: your love is a shift in the range of mental reflection, this is the program "Play, hormone", nothing more. It played, a foggy silhouette of 90-60-90 appeared-and everything will coincide, but then it will disappear. And when we talk about love, with a sense of duty, with duties, with a rejection of ourselves ...
Yakov Krotov: Can I about love without a sense of duty?
Anatoly Office: Yes, maybe that. Love is more than feeling. And love is only a feeling.
Yakov Krotov: At the words "sense of duty" I, as a Christian, stand on his hind legs. Because there is "our father": "Leave us our debts, as well as we leave it," but do not "let us fulfill our duty." And love - what duty? I owe something to my wife, does she owe me something?
Anatoly Office: Do we owe children?
Yakov Krotov: Well, should the sun warmly and light?
Anatoly Office: No.
Yakov Krotov: God owe us?
Anatoly Office: No. But if you do not feed and wear children, take care of their upbringing, then neither the prosecutor’s office nor the public can present anything? Where do we go such a thing as "parental duty"?
Yakov Krotov: I think that the concept of "parental duty" arises when there is no concept of marital love.
Anatoly Office: That's right. Well, here is not her! There was love, and we have many people connect to love, and it passes.
The Lord sends light and water to all, unlike ZhEK, without disconnecting for a day
Yakov Krotov: There is an attitude: there are one hundred rubles on the stake, and we must spend them, and then the concept of duty appears. And there is a gospel picture of the world - the world as ... Remember, Belyaev: the ocean of bread that swells, and enough for everyone, and what debts can be here ...
Anatoly Office: "It is a pity, only I will have to live at this time at this time, neither you nor you" ...
Yakov Krotov: Yes, we live in it! Remember the gospel. The Lord sends light and water to all, unlike the housing office, without turning off for a day.
Anatoly Misple: Yes, but there is a zheki. And in 1962, I stood in line for a loaf of bread from five in the morning.
Yakov Krotov: This is slander for Soviet power ... (laugh)
Anatoly Misple: Well, we, dissidents, can.
Yakov Krotov: It seems to me that in the ancient idea of fate (although the Epicureans, at least Gnostics ) fate is more like a logos , that is, it is close to a Christian sensation, it is something guardian, warm, allowing a person to be realized.
Anatoly Office: And the tragic fate?
Yakov Krotov: Does Father Pavel Adelheim have a tragic fate?
Anatoly Office: No. And with Judah? And in Pchelintsev, who stabbed his father Paul?
Yakov Krotov: Here is Alexander’s father-it is clear there-either the Gpushniki themselves, or someone they sent. Paul’s father, as I understand it, killed a crazy man.
Anatoly Office: It is also incomprehensible.
Yakov Krotov: The father of the hedgehog Popelushko was killed by a colonel of Polish state security. And then he kills a madman, like Optina monks in 1993, killed a clear crazy one. This is embarrassed to admit, but there was an official examination. But my question is about something else. Here is a crazy person and a sane person - can one say that one has fate, but the other does not?
Fate is a predetermined program of human life, formed by the factors of heredity, environmental influence and subjective activity of the personality
Anatoly Office: Let's still determine what fate is. I have not yet met a single worthy definition, so I had to determine myself. My definition: fate is a predetermined program of human life, formed by the factors of heredity, environmental influence and subjective activity of the personality, and all three are under the constant influence of transcendental energy.
Yakov Krotov: Is transcendental energized such a pseudonym for the Creator?
Anatoly Defendikh: Unfortunately, not only for the Creator. There are also transcendental, transcendental to us and below ...
Yakov Krotov: Most people, as I understand it, live (and, probably, I myself, sinful) in a manic-depressive world: take-off-fall, take-off-fall.
Anatoly Office
Anatoly Office: This was determined by Professor Umansky - the law of a pulsating curve: after each take -off, the fall is required, after each fall, take up the take -off. As a matter of fact, this law was opened by Solomon to Umansky: everything passes, this will pass and this ...
Yakov Krotov: How many years have you been familiar with Father Paul?
Anatoly Office: About 17 years old, probably.
Yakov Krotov: You also looked at him and as a psychologist?
Anatoly Office: Yes, yes, we even examined him!
And what?
(laugh)
Do you agree with this?
He turned and left.
