
The European Union will check the boundaries for strength - stress tests like those that go through credit organizations, announced the European border agency Frontex.
“We want to see how much EU member countries have been prepared for the crisis situation on the external borders of the European Union. It is supposed to work out different scenarios on sea, ground and air borders,” said the director of Frontex Fabrice Ledgery in an interview with the German weekly Welt Am Sonntag .
According to Ledgery, specific scenarios are currently coordinated. According to DW , the checks will be held, in particular, in Germany and Greece. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Germany confirmed information on the preparation of stress tests for borders.
According to Welt Am Sonntag, the October stress tests for the borders of the European Union are part of the new Frontex program, the implementation of which will begin in a few weeks. Among other things, she prescribes EU countries to allocate 1,500 border guards who can be involved in Frontex urgently for several days.
In addition to strengthening the security of borders, the head of Frontex Ledgery advocates expanding the legal capabilities of immigration to Europe to reduce pressure on the external boundaries of the European Union.
