Fergana agency reported the death of the President of Uzbekistan

The Fergana news agency reported the death of Uzbek President Islam Karimov, citing its sources. According to the agency, Karimov died on the afternoon of August 29.

Nadezhda Atayeva, president of the Human Rights in Central Asia association, told Dozhd that she learned about the death of Islam Karimov from two sources: law enforcement and medical circles.

There is no official confirmation of information about the death of the President of Uzbekistan.

According to an Interfax source close to the leadership of Uzbekistan, the country's president is alive. RIA Novosti, citing a source in Karimov's office, also reports that he is alive.

Earlier it became known that on August 27, Islam Karimov was hospitalized with a stroke. For the first time in the entire reign, the hospitalization of the president was officially announced.
