Medvedev ordered the creation of a Russian analogue of Wikipedia

The Russian government decided to create on the basis of the Great Soviet Encyclopedia (BSE) and other Russian scientific reference books a "nationwide scientific and educational interactive encyclopedic portal".

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree on the creation of a working group that will create a portal. The corresponding document is published on the official portal of legal information.

The working group will be headed by Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Prikhodko. The project will also be taken up by Deputy Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications Alexei Volin, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Culture, the Russian Academy of Sciences and other structures.

Last summer, came up the Russian Military Historical Society (RVIO) with a similar initiative. It was planned that the analogue of "Wikipedia" would be called "Ripedia", and the articles of the TSB, materials of the Orthodox Encyclopedia and the Historical Encyclopedia were offered to be placed on the portal.
