Andrey Zhukov, a candidate for the Legislative Assembly of the Sverdlovsk Region, withdrew his candidacy due to threats against members of his family. This was reported on August 28 on the party's website.
The regional branch of the party filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office, as well as with the regional election commission. Oleg Chistyakov, head of the local branch of the Civic Platform, said that the candidates of the Civic Platform were offered to withdraw from the elections for material reward and at the risk of health. According to Chistyakov, such proposals were made in a telephone conversation by the deputy head of the regional Legislative Assembly, a member of United Russia, Anatoly Sukhov, and they were also heard at meetings with members of the headquarters of United Russia candidate Dmitry Zhukov.
