The court did not find any offense in the action of LGBT activists

The Dzerzhinsky District Court of St. Petersburg did not see an administrative offense in the actions of two LGBT activists of the Vykhod group, who came out on July 12, 2016 with a rally for freedom of assembly, as an administrative offense and stopped the proceedings. This was reported on August 30 on the official website of the group.

The court took into account that the activists held the rally in a specially designated place for this - Hyde Park, and therefore could not be detained for lack of notification of the event. The judge pointed out that the only restriction for holding rallies in the city's Hyde Parks without notice could be the maximum number of participants and participants in the actions, which is established by the laws of the subject of the Russian Federation, in St. Petersburg - two hundred people.

Prior to this, the Committee on Legality, Law and Order and Security of the Government of St. Petersburg refused eleven times to accept a notification about an LGBT action on the Field of Mars, citing the fact that the place was occupied by cultural events.

Lawyer Ksenia Mikhailova said that the activists intend to file a claim for compensation for moral damage caused by illegal detention. Also, Vykhod plans to apply to the authorized bodies to resolve the issue of bringing to justice the police officers who stopped the action.
