One of the most striking events of the week was the arrest at a memorial service in Beslan on September 1. Several women, including those who lost relatives in the seized school in 2004, took off their outerwear and showed T-shirts with the words “Putin - the executioner of Beslan.” The police detained them and two journalists, Elena Kostyuchenko from Novaya Gazeta and Diana Khachatryan from Takiye Delo. Later, the journalists were released, and local residents were fined or sentenced to forced labor . Two days later, Kostyuchenko, Khachatryan and one of the Beslan mothers, Ella Kesaeva, were attacked by unknown assailants .

No freedom of assembly

Persecution continues for solidarity with Kuban farmers. Many participants in the “tractor march”, which did not reach Moscow, were placed under arrest . Four activists of the Association of Russian Carriers were detained in the Rostov region and sent for trial to the Voronezh region, where they had been detained earlier. Two were fined . The Cossack ataman was also detained. Several more OPR activists (including those detained earlier) were detained at the entrance to the Moscow region.

“Moscow's waiting lists” who staged a hunger strike near the United Russia office in Moscow began to be fined following arrests. Some already have two or even three court decisions.

Twelve defenders of the Moscow Torfyanka Park were detained.

In Crimea, the cases of participants in a motor rally with Crimean Tatar flags were sent for a new trial . Previously, the case was closed due to the absence of an offense, but the police appealed this decision. Butthe proceedings against the organizers of the “Deceived Crimea” action have been discontinued .

In St. Petersburg, the court did not find any offense in the action of LGBT activists.

Elections

They were looking for a bomb in the car of one of the leaders of the PARNAS election list, Vyacheslav Maltsev. PARNAS activist Ilya Yashin was detained during a meeting with voters in Moscow. Candidate for deputy of the Moscow Regional Duma from Yabloko, Tatyana Pavlova, in Krasnoznamensk . United Communist Party candidate Vladimir Lakeev was detained for hanging a banner in Moscow. In Tyumen, the circulation of a campaign newspaper was confiscated from a candidate for deputy, a participant in the Open Elections project, Alexander Kunilovsky, and an investigation was launched on charges of libeling the head of the region.

Criminal prosecutions

The Chairman of the Supreme Court called for a review of the decisions on the arrest and extension of detention of the three accused in the “Bolotnaya case” - Ilya Gushchin, Leonid Kovyazin and Artem Savelov. They are already free, Kovyazin was amnestied, Gushchin and Savelov served time in a colony. The presentation of the Chairman of the Supreme Court appeared due to the fact that earlier the European Court of Human Rights declared the arrest of all three illegal.

Yekaterinburg video blogger Ruslan Sokolovsky was arrested . A case has been opened against him for inciting hatred and insulting the feelings of believers. The reason was two videos: in one, Sokolovsky catches Pokemon in a temple, in the other, he is ironic about the local bishop’s statements about marriage.

Leonid Volkov, an associate of Alexei Navalny, was sentenced to a fine of 30 thousand rubles in the case of damaging the microphone of a Lifenews journalist. At the same time, the charge against him was reclassified to a less serious one - the court considered that there was no damage, any violence or threats in Volkov’s actions, and he only interfered with the activities of the journalist.

The Supreme Court recognized the legal sentence of Perm resident Vladimir Luzgin: a 200 thousand ruble fine for reposting which spoke about the cooperation of “communists and Nazis” at the beginning of World War II.

In Vologda, a case was opened against the mother of local opposition politician Evgeniy Domozhirov, who tried to prevent police officers from entering the house who wanted to conduct a search and did not present a warrant. Domozhirova’s hand was injured, and now she is accused of insulting a government official.

Something similar happened to the defender of the Moscow Dubki Park, Dmitry Boynov, whose leg was broken during his arrest: a case of hooliganism was opened against him for using a gas spray during a conflict with the guards of an illegal construction site in the park.

Other persecutions

Lawyer and human rights activist Eduard Musin was killed in the town of Obolensk near Moscow.

Deputy Chairman of PARNAS Vladimir Kara-Murza was attacked in Nizhny Novgorod, where he was filming a film about Boris Nemtsov.

It became known about several administrative cases opened for missionary activities outside of churches - this is the result of the adoption of amendments tightening anti-extremist and anti-terrorism legislation (the so-called “Yarovaya package”).
